Poetry Night

Princeton Friends School’s annual Poetry Night - in which every 1st-8th grade student reads an original poem - will be held on Thursday, March 20th, at 6:00 p.m.

As always, families whose children are staying straight through from the end of the school day until the Poetry Night are invited to bring dinner for their children prior to 6:00 p.m. We ask that you sign your child out from the After-School Program, find a classroom in which to eat, and then clean up completely before you return to the Great Room for the program. Students should be seated in the Great Room by 5:55 p.m. so that we can begin the program promptly at 6:00 p.m. We are very excited to hear everyone's poetry!

Spring PE and Electives

This week, students made their spring PE and Elective choices during advisory time. The groups will be created next week, and we look forward to the springtime fun that is coming after break! Please reach out to Kofi or Abby if you have any questions.

PFS Spring Fling Silent Auction Donations

Friends–we are looking for items, services, and experiences for our Silent Auction again this year!
The Spring Fling Auction on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 is the Family Association’s largest fundraiser, and we rely on our parents, staff, students, and friends to make the evening the wonderful success it has consistently been. All proceeds from the evening benefit Princeton Friends School and this year’s initiative to revamp the lower school (B-School through 3rd grade) playground space. Learn more about it (including renders) when the Spring Fling site opens next week for ticket purchases!

If you, or anyone you may know, would be interested in donating a service or an item, kindly complete this form and return it to the Schoolhouse front desk basket. All items are welcome and below are some ideas of various kinds of service or merchandise. The best performing auction items are one-of-a-kind experiences or unique items that can’t easily be obtained elsewhere.

Need some help brainstorming ideas? Give some of these a try…

Do you have a service you can donate to the school?  We’ve had a construction company owner donate “Handyman for a Day”.

Do you or your extended family have a vacation home you’d like to donate for a few days for a family to bid on and enjoy? We’ve previously had villas and cabins donated by parents.

Are you an artist and have a piece you’d like to donate or want to donate a private session to instruct/perform?

Do you have access to gift cards/certificates or season passes to a popular place that could gain some bidding interest at the Fling?

Are you close with any business/restaurant owners who may be willing to donate an item or a service? Last year we offered a private Nomad Pizza session for 5 people where they learned how to make their amazing pizzas.

Would you like to advertise your business in our Spring Fling program book?  Let us know!

Already have an idea of something you’d like to donate? Please reach out to the folks leading the Auction Item Committee, Rick Austin (2nd and 4th grade parent of Ollie and Julian), Fänta Weekes (5th grade parent of Alanna & Maniya) or Angel Obregon (8th grade parent of Evan) with any questions, schedule a pick-up, or want to run an idea by us.

Princeton Friends School is a nonprofit organization and your donation may be tax deductible. Our Tax ID is 22-2790041 Our Mailing Address is: 470 Quaker Road, Princeton, NJ 08540

Newsies, Jr. Info

Rehearsal Schedule

The Newsies need "Papes"!
Help be a part of the success of our spring musical, Newsies Jr., by saving and donating newspapers (yes, print!) in the next few weeks.
We particularly need tabloid-sized papers (e.g. Town Topics and Montgomery News) and papers that are predominantly black and white (e.g. WSJ and NYT).
There will be a collection box in the front entrance until mid-April.
Thanks for contributing to the success of the show!

Book Nook

Click here for the PFS Library website and see our new books!

This will be a running site that is updated when we have events or new books to share with you.

Problem Of the Week

Problem of the Week (POW) problems are fun to do and each one illustrates an important concept in math or an important moment in math history.

New POW problems are introduced in math classes about once a month, and students are encouraged to continue to tackle them during free time at school or with their family at home.

The POW for March is Hashi!

Hashi (Hashiwokakero), also known as Bridges, is a logic puzzle with simple rules and challenging solutions. The goal is to connect all of the islands on the grid into a single connected group by drawing a series of bridges between the islands.

Come Join Friday Community Time!
