Hope for the Holidays

Eighth grader Leah Henderson’s stunning art piece was chosen as the cover art for the brochure of the Monmouth County Museum juried art show, Hope for the Holidays. “We were so surprised,” said her mom, Sarah. “It was totally unexpected.” The museum wrote this about the show: “The Holiday Season provides the opportunity to look forward to the future with anticipation and the expectation that despite adversity, better times are ahead. This shared experience of the positive human spirit, Hope, exists beyond borders and is not unique to any single country or belief system. Throughout time, Hope is woven into all cultures across the globe.”

The festive photograph of a tree was taken on her iPhone at Longwood Gardens last year. Photography is a fairly new medium for Leah, who usually sketches and draws anime characters. She plans to continue her art work into her high school years and beyond.
