Postponed: Spring Fling

Dear Friends,

First and foremost, the PFS Fling Team extends our best wishes for your safety and that of your loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic currently engulfing communities across the globe. We hope that you're ensconced somewhere safe, and able to remain in contact with family and friends, whether near or far. If you received PFS' email last Friday, March 27th, you know by now that unfortunately PFS will not resume activities during April and May. This includes our 2020 PFS Spring Fling, originally scheduled for April 25th. While this is very disappointing, it's necessary during the current times.

Rather than be disheartened, we've decided to seize this moment to live the ideal of Community -- one of the core values that lies at the heart of PFS' identity -- and we invite you to join us. We've shifted our attention from the Spring Fling fundraiser to directly raising funds for the emergent needs the PFS community faces. For those of you who are willing and able, please help us help each other! We can now offer monthly recurring donations as a new giving option. This allows you to spread out your giving and make a recurring gift of automatic, equal amounts each month, from now until April 2021.

Your support will assist PFS' teachers, its families, and the school overcome the myriad challenges posed by COVID-19. If any funds are left over, PFS will later apply those monies toward the Fling's usual $18,000 net fundraising goal to support extraordinary opportunities for PFS students: from Poetry Night to Moving On; Blairstown to the Island School; Taking Care to Talk Show; and more. The funds are also needed for PFS to continue to recruit, retain and develop outstanding faculty and staff so that it can continue to achieve its unique blend of rigorous academics and social-emotional learning education, as well as sustain its vibrant, diverse community by offering one of the most generous tuition-aid programs in the region.

Thank you for your kindness, support and community. Thank you to the faculty, who have spent countless hours rebuilding their courses for virtual learning. Thank you to the PFS staff and administration, who have worked tirelessly to keep the school running and keep us all safe. And thank you to the students and families, whose resilience, courage, and sense of humor are a light to us all in these challenging times.
