Data Systems Specialist

Data Systems Specialist

  • Implements policies and procedures related to student information systems and data retention
  • Maintains integrity and security of databases through regular monitoring, error correction and data cleanup
  • Update and maintain school website
  • Manage schoolwide database and cloud-based systems including FACTS and TADS
  • Provide appropriate and timely user training and support to faculty and staff users
  • Serve as liaison between external data systems vendors and users
  • Coordinate data processes with administrators, parents, faculty, and external vendors
  • Configure complex custom reports, exports, imports, and queries in response to department
    requests
  • Update & maintain templates in systems and compose & send broadcasts for admissions,
    student information systems, and development and alumni communications
  • Design, implement, and document data entry standards, policies, and procedures for all
    database users and monitor adherence to them
  • Troubleshoot and solve database-related technical issues that parents, students, faculty, and
    staff encounter both in person and via electronic communication
  • Participate in the evaluation of new database technologies for their potential to support
  • Princeton Friends School operations; advise the Administrative Team regarding the strategic
    growth and change of database systems at PFS.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma required, Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in database and website management in an educational setting
  • Independent school experience preferred
  • Supportive colleague with a “can-do” style
  • Experience working with being part of a team


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and comfort with technology, database systems, and website management
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills; detail and goal oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all the school’s constituents while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Solid organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Highly resourceful and motivated – a “self-starter” with positive energy and a sense of humor
  • Exemplary work ethic


REASONING ABILITY:

  • Must use discernment in responding to various needs and requests from the school’s stakeholders.
  • Communication and decisions beyond the scope of this position must be referred to the Head of School.

The Data Systems Specialist will be exposed to information of a confidential, proprietary or statutorily protected nature, including but not limited to student, faculty and parent information. They must maintain the confidentiality and private nature of such information with the utmost good faith, especially as it pertains to student, family and other proprietary and protected information.
