Friends Education

More than three centuries ago, Quakers established Friends schools in order to provide an education that would recognize and nurture the spirit in each child within a community of learners. For this reason, Friends schools typically attract students from a wide range of religious, ethnic, and socio–economic backgrounds. Over the years, these schools have maintained a tradition of high quality education, offering supportive environments in which children encounter rigorous intellectual challenges, acquire necessary academic skills, discover outlets for playfulness and creativity, and develop a sense of responsibility to the broader community.

"Our most consequential human problems
will be resolved, not through competition, but
collaboration... what we need in education is a
learning climate in which students work together.
In such an atmosphere, truth emerges as authentic
insights are conscientiously exchanged."

Ernest Boyer, President
Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, 1979–1995
Princeton Friends School Advisory Board, 1985–1995
