Advisors

Each student in third through eighth grade is assigned an advisor, a teacher who oversees the student’s progress in all subject areas, helps the student organize belongings and assignments, and serves as general coach and mentor for the year. Specific subject area teachers report to the child’s advisor, and parent contact with the school is conducted through the advisor. Parent–teacher conferences are scheduled twice a year, once in the early autumn and again in midwinter. Together, the parents, the advisor, and the subject area teachers work with each student to set appropriate academic goals and provide guidance throughout the year.

Students in third through eighth grades are scheduled for classes in literature, writing, math, Central Study, science, Spanish or Chinese, physical education, visual arts, vocal music, library, and arts electives.
